The Committee notes the information provided by the Government of Anguilla in the report received in September 2013. The Government indicates that the Anguilla economy has been negatively impacted by the ongoing global financial crisis. The unemployment rate has increased with the closure of several businesses and the local banking sector has been severely impacted. The Committee takes note of the Government’s indication that the gaps in this Convention are being addressed in the redrafting of the new Labour Code. The Committee invites the Government to include in its next report updated data illustrating that the improvement of standards of living has been regarded as the principal objective in the planning of economic development. Please also provide information on the measures relating to minimum wages (Article 14(2)–(4)), protection of wages (Articles 15(1)–(6) and 16), and education and training (Article 19(2)–(3)).
