This photo is the result of a photographic competition organized by the International Labour Office New Delhi branch to promote decent work for domestic workers. Original caption by the author: Hand in hand: Our domestic helps take care of our household and every nook and corner of the house are better known to them than us. A positive gesture on the part of the employer to come forward and extend a helping hand, can enthuse them and make them feel no less. Feelings are shared by sharing work. It paves the way to a society that is free from rigid boundaries that differentiate man and work. An environment where respect to work finds priority enables the domestic worker to endear her profession. She learns to respect herself and also knows how to command respect in the society- for "a man is not born a slave" goes the saying.
