Indigenous peoples in a changing world of work: Exploring indigenous peoples’ economic and social rights through the Indigenous Navigator

The result of a collective and community-led data-gathering exercise in 11 countries relying on the Indigenous Navigator framework and tools, this report explores indigenous peoples’ experiences in a world of work undergoing transformation. It demonstrates that indigenous peoples face significant obstacles in performing their traditional occupations and accessing decent work opportunities, education, and social protection, a situation that is being aggravated by the COVID-19 pandemic. At the same time, the study investigates possible avenues for supporting indigenous workers, cooperatives, entrepreneurs, and indigenous peoples’ economies, based on the views and priorities expressed by indigenous peoples themselves.
