Accelerating Progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals through the Social and Solidarity Economy

The ILO will co-organize the session on “Accelerating Progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals through the Social and Solidarity Economy” as part of the ESCAP’s Business Innovation for the Sustainable development Goals Forum on 13-14 December 2022.

Social and solidarity economy can play a crucial role in the realization of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by promoting inclusive and sustainable development. This year marks a historical milestone for the social and solidarity economy (SSE) at international level, with the adoption of the Resolution on decent work and the social and solidarity economy at the 110th International Labour Conference, and the Recommendation on the social and solidarity economy and social innovation by the OECD Council at Ministerial level. Member States are working toward a possible UN resolution on the SSE for sustainable development.

This session will bring together policymakers, representatives of international organizations, social and solidarity economy network and practitioners from Asia and the Pacific to discuss ways to strengthen the SSE’s contribution to achieving the SDGs.

The session will take place on 14 December 2022 at 11.00am to 12.30pm Bangkok time and will be available in English and Spanish with simultaneous translation. You can sign up for the event here.
