    Ibero-American Symposium: Making domestic work a decent work

    This high level opening panel kicks-off the Ibero-American Symposium on Domestic Work and Care. Ministers of Latin America will share their experiences in making domestic and care work decent work.

  2. Training on GBV/Workplace Harassment

    The All Pakistan Women Association conducted a three days training on Gender Based Violence and Workplace Harassment. More than 30 females participated and actively engaged in the participative training, which was facilitated by APWA trainers. Mr. Razi Haider, National Project Coordinator of the Japan funded PRS/STRIDE Project also briefed the participants about the ILO convention C-190

  3. Africa-Arab States fellowship for journalism students in labour migration reporting

    17 October - 15 December 2022

    The ILO FAIRWAY programme has conducted back-to-back activities in Uganda and Jordan for journalism students and recent graduates of four universities: Makerere University (Uganda), Uganda Christian University (Uganda), Yarmouk University (Jordan) and Middle East University (Jordan). These activities are the first part of a broader cross-border fellowship aimed at increasing the interest of journalism students in international labour mobility, enhancing their labour migration reporting skills, and fostering cross-border networks to report these stories along a corridor approach.

  4. Spotlight on Gender-sensitive Reporting in Journalism

    The joint ILO-UN Women Safe and Fair Programme, as part of the EU-UN Spotlight Initiative, will host a webinar to discuss and share good practices for responsible and ethical reporting of labour migration and gender-based violence and discrimination against migrant workers among media professionals. Safe and Fair will also launch the Media-friendly glossary on migration: Women migrant workers and ending violence against women edition. The glossary serves a guide for journalists, reporters, researchers and trainers who conduct trainings or write about women’s labour migration, and who write about violence against women in the context of migration.

  6. FAIRWAY hosts webinar for Jordanian journalists on reducing discrimination and promoting positive perception of migrants in the context of COVID-19

    The webinar focused on the importance of the role of the media in promoting a balanced public understanding of migration, and rights-based language and reporting styles when reporting on migrant workers. The event is part of a broader FAIRWAY Programme strategy to tackle discrimination against migrants, including through innovative social media campaigns.

  7. Development of a national action plan for Uganda

    2 - 3 December 2020

    The FAIRWAY Programme conducted a two day planning workshop with key migration national stakeholders in Uganda, with the goal of developing a national action plan.

  8. Awareness-raising workshop for domestic workers led by the National Union of Malagasy Domestic Workers (SENAMAMA)

    The ILO's REFRAME project, with the help of the International Federation of Domestic Workers, supports the creation and strengthening of the domestic workers' organization SENAMAMA in Madagascar.

    Since the adoption of ILO Convention 189 on decent work for domestic workers, many countries around the world have worked to improve their protection. In 2021, the ILO will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of Convention 189.

  10. EC-ILO joint conference on domestic workers and Occupational Safety and Health

    The European Commission (EC) together with the International Labour Organization (ILO) are organizing a high level conference on domestic workers and occupational safety and health (OSH) in Brussels on 12-13 November 2018.
