    Behavioural insights in employers’ choice of recruitment services for domestic work

    The ILO launched a campaign based on behavioural science, in a bid to influence the market in Hong Kong towards greater demand for fair recruitment practices. This report presents the results of the randomised control trial that was designed and used to identify the most effective message frame to trigger the behaviour of employers of domestic workers in Hong Kong (China) and influence their choice of private recruitment agencies when hiring foreign domestic workers.

It sets out the rationale and promising practices for promoting internal labour market mobility, loosely defined as the ability to terminate employment, switch to a different employer, renew a work permit and/or leave the destination country without the approval of the employer, including during the contract period.

    This policy brief intends to provide recommendations on how to better protect the domestic workers in Lebanon by amending the labour code. It reviews the situation of the employment conditions of the migrant domestic workers in Lebanon, which were lately exacerbated as a result of the COVID-19. As a way forward, it proposes three recommendations in order to unlock the complex situation.
