Training of Trainers in SOLVE: Integrating health promotion into workplace OSH policy

The course is intended for Human resources, OSH and social welfare staff of organizations and enterprises; officers of institutions and government departments responsible for OSH and health promotion; members of employers' and trade-union organizations with an active interest in health promotion in the workplace; managers and staff of enterprise-support organizations; consultants and university teachers and researchers working in the fields of occupational safety and health and health promotion.

SOLVE is an interactive educational programme designed to assist in the development of policy and initiatives to address health-related issues in the workplace. It focuses on prevention by integrating health promotion into occupational safety and health (OSH) policies and initiatives at the enterprise level. It is concerned with with the prevention of work-related stressors (work-place stress and economic stressors), alcohol and drug abuse, violence (physical and psychological), and the prevention of HIV/AIDS. It also promotes tobacco-free workplaces and healthy lifestyles, including good eating, sleeping and exercise habits. The International Training Centre of the ILO, in conjunction with LABADMIN/OSH (the ILO department responsible for OSH), is organizing this training activity to further the dissemination and sustainability of the SOLVE programme by involving tripartite constituent organizations, United Nations programmes and projects, training institutions and other intermediate civil society organizations in its delivery.
