OSH management training for micro, small and medium enterprises in Zambia

In the framework of the project “Improving Safety and Health at Work through a Decent Work Agenda”, the International Labour Office in collaboration with the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) organized a training course within the “Broad Based Wealth and Job Creation (BBW&JC) Programme”.

The course was aimed at twelve managers and/or owners from eleven micro, small and medium enterprises. The objective of the course was to equip the managers and/or owners of micro, small and medium enterprises with knowledge and skills on OSH management in order to satisfy the requirements of the large enterprises to which they supply their goods and services.

The OSH component of the course was delivered in four sessions under the following topics: OSH Legislation – The Factories Act, Chapter 441 of the Laws of Zambia; Basic Principles of OSH; and Creating a Safe Working Environment which included Planning for OSH Management; and OSH Management. All the participants successfully completed their assessment exercise at the end of the training.
