Former First Lady of Brazil and President of the Community Solidarity Council, an organisation that has been promoting inter-sectoral partnerships in the fight against poverty and social exclusion since 1995. Dr. Cardoso was previously Senior researcher at the Brazilian Centre of Analysis and Planning and Professor of Anthropology at the University of Sao Paulo. She is a member of the Board of the United Nations Foundation and is the author of several books and articles on youth, social movements, civil society and new social actors.
